The battelfield

It was an epic sight….
Kim slowly breathed in. It was a nervous breath more than anything. She glanced side to side, yup…this was it….
She braced herself for she was about to participate in one of the most epic battles yet. Would she make it? It was unknown. Suddenly she thought maybe she should have phoned all her loved ones to give them a last goodbye….
But it was not time to think of that now. There was a task. A war to be fought. The objective was clear.
Go in and destroy. Leave NO SURVIVORS.
Kim grasped her many weapons that she had picked very carefully for this particular battle.
A hoe. A pitch fork. And some sort of Japanese hand tool which name escapes her.
She narrows her eyes sizing up her enemy, weapons ready.
WEEDS. Out of control. TAKING OVER EVERYTHING. THEY MUST BE STOPPED. These words still rung over and over in her head as she looked at the strip of land once covered with beautiful plants bearing vegetables now choked to death by vicious, pillaging weeds. Her particular section was about a 10 by 60 slot of land, absolutely covered in weeds. The task seemed unbearable. To large for any human. But because of their vow to organic there would be no such thing as spraying these weeds….Oh no, these had to be taken out the old way.
Was she ready? She had only been gardening for two weeks? Certainly an experienced gardener would even have faltered at the battle field.
Courage woman…courage…she whispered to herself….
On the count of three….
One….two…Kim closed her eyes…Three….
The warrior woman unleashed.
Those weeds never knew what hit them! But it was ugly, and they were not going to give up their pillaged land easily! The battle raged!
Garden tools flying! Weeds flying! Screaming, blood, sweat….it was messy.
About half way through kicking the weeds assess Kim felt a sudden sharp pain shoot through her elbow! No….she bellowed! Not the tendonitis! The weeds knew her weakness. But what they didn’t see coming was that Kim is just as good with her left hand as she is with her right when it comes to garden tools!
AGAIN THE BATTLE RAGGED ON….but lets face it, our heroin was loosing wind quickly.
What would her final words be if she didn’t make it…..NO…she must push on now was not the time for discouragement…
And then…..
“Oh kim that is good for today, lets go home”.
BUT……Kim looked around at her progress….A small 10 by 20 foot patch….Sigh…
It was a small victory but a victory none the less.
Tomorrow our heroin will once again enter this battle field, this time rested, fed and the more determined to kick some more weed ass!
